This web site holds photographs and other materials from the ASIANetwork Pearl River Delta study trip held June-July 2005. This trip, funded by Fulbright-Hayes, took 16 faculty from small colleges to the PRD for 3 weeks, with visits to a dozen cities in or adjacent to Guangdong Province ... including Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, Shantou, Chaozhou, and Xiamen.

But before getting to that -- and thanks to Bob Eng -- here's a wonderful set of resources on the PRD.

This village, which is now part of Xiamen City, is the subject of a book by Shu-min Huang, The Spiral Road: Change in a Chinese Village through the Eyes of a Communist Party Leader, 2nd ed., Westview Press, 1998. Like many is his village, Mr. Ye, the leader featured in the book, became an entrepreneur as post-1982 reforms progressed. He was our host for this visit.
